It's December 19, 2022. We haven't had much snow yet. I can still drive to our cabin on the Wolf Creek Ranch, up in the mountains. This is the latest in the year I've been able to do that. The other night it got down to -5 F outside, 26 F inside the cabin. No furnace. No heat until I got out of bed and made a fire in the wood stove.
Aldo Leopold was right. There's spiritual safety in raising food and cutting firewood.
